In the fall of 2006, Palestine Assistant Police Chief, Brian Wharton, resigned from his position in law enforcement, sold his home, and moved his family to Kentucky where he would attend Asbury Theological Seminary and enter the candidacy process for ordination in the United Methodist Church. In May of 2010, Brian graduated from Asbury with is Masters of Divinity and was commissioned to Faith UMC in Spring, TX. As his home church, we are very proud of Brian and have been very supportive of his journey into ministry. Brian’s wife Kristi served as our church secretary for several years and their daughter Abbi was very active in our children’s ministry. We stay in regular contact with the Whartons.
