Several years ago, the youth decided they needed an identity.  They chose the name Reach Youth Ministries.  The term reach indicates the idea of stretching out to grab hold of something.  In the youth department, we strive to “Reach Up” in worship and learning for God, “Reach Out” to others and draw them into a relationship with God and his church, and to “Reach In” by learning more about ourselves and the people God made us to be.   The youth program is for students who have are in 7th through 12th grades.  Our church offers Confirmation classes for students during the spring of their 6th grade year.  Once they have completed Confirmation or have completed 6th grade, students may begin attending our youth group meetings.  We have lots of parents and volunteers who help out in the youth ministry.  All youth volunteers must complete Safe Sanctuary training to work with youth at FUMC.

Wednesday Meal Rotation: For 8 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring, the church has Wednesday Happenings–a fellowship and discipleship emphasis that incorporates a church-wide dinner and Bible study classes for all age groups.  The youth group joins the rest of the church for dinner these weeks.  However, when these meetings aren’t going on, we serve a meal on Wednesday nights to the youth.  These meals are provided by a rotation of parents.  Most families only provide a meal two or three times a year.  We do not do Wednesday meals during summer vacation.  If you would like to be in the meal rotation, please contact Jason Huffman.

While many photos from recent youth events are available on this website, you may need to access our online photo archive of previous youth events.  When you get to the album, select the album you would like to see from the left-hand sidebar.
