While this may seem like a political statement, this is totally in regards to the construction project on the northeast side of the FUMC campus. For several months, the Board of Trustees has been in negotiations with a professional house mover and with the Palestine Historical Society. After a lot of discussion and waiting, the movers have begun construction on the deconstruction of the house. They have actually put in a false floor on the second story, have cut the second story away from the lower floor, and have run beams through the second story so that it can be lifted off of the bottom floor and set on wheels for transport. Once this is done, the lower floor will be put on beams and wheels for transport. After it is removed, the house will be reassembled and patched up at its new location right here in downtown Palestine.
